Daycare teacher arrested after baby burned

HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- Hall County Sheriff's deputies arrested a daycare teacher Friday, for first degree child cruelty.

Hall County Sheriff's spokesperson Nicole Bailes says 55-year-old Eddye Pittmon of Talmo, was taken into custody at Discovering Basics, for involvement with 18-month-old Damon Gaddis' burn injuries.

Pittmon is currently being held at the Hall County Jail with no bond and will have her first court appearance before a Magistrate Judge Saturday morning.

Megan Seabolt, the boys mother, says teachers at Discovering Basics daycare in Clermont told her they heard Damon scream just 25 minutes before she arrived to pick him up.

Seabolt says the boy had on a different set of clothes than when he arrived and his leg was covered in lotion.

The daycare owner and her attorney would not talk on camera, but both said by phone the child was having an allergic reaction to a bug bite. They both insist he did not have any burns when he left their facility.
