PALATKA, Fla. - A 21-year-old Palatka man is facing multiple charges of fraud and dealing in stolen property.
Deputies with the Palatka County Sheriff's Office responded to a theft complaint at a business in Palatka, according to a Facebook post from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Steel pipes and metal brackets were allegedly taken from the business on the 500 block of Stokes Landing Road.
Detectives working the case searched a law enforcement agency database and learned over 6,000 pounds of metal had been scrapped by 21-year-old Clint Wilson who received $723 for the metal, the post claimed.
According to the PCSO, Wilson also lives in close proximity to the locations where the alleged thefts occurred.
Wilson was arrested and charged with seven counts of dealing in stolen property and seven counts of providing false ownership to a secondhand metal dealer.
Sheriff Jeff Hardy stated "Our local metal dealers work closely with the Sheriff's Office to ensure that stolen property is not being scrapped. They are equally concerned about protecting the citizens of Putnam County".
Wilson was released on a $49,112 bond.
