JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are still trying to figure out what happened to a woman whose body was found in the bushes at the Savannah Oaks Apartments.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to 6017 Roosevelt Blvd. around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.  According to JSO, witnesses said they noticed a woman's body wrapped in something, possibly a blanket.

JSO said the woman, 31-year-old Stephanie Ann Slevin, was face down and her body showed signs of trauma. Her last known address was in the same complex.

"I need to know what's going on. I need to know if it's safe for us," said Alaina Starling, a neighbor.

Those who live at the complex said Monday they are concerned for their safety. Some residents said they are taking extra precautions.

"We're just keeping all the doors locked.  You know not going out late at night," said Lee Jackson, another neighbor.

Apartment management released a statement saying, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and her family. We are working closely with authorities during their ongoing investigation of this incident. At this time we believe this is an isolated incident; however, we urge each of our residents to exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings at all times."

Over the weekend, neighbors said they did not hear gunshots. It's unknown if the crime happened where the body was found or elsewhere.

Police are searching for a white four-door vehicle, but do not have a specific make and model. A car was seen leaving the area around the time witnesses noticed Slevin's body in the bushes.

Police said it's not clear if the white car is connected with the woman, but police would like to talk to the people in that car.
