Woman saved from alleged kidnapper after passing note to stranger

ST JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A note passed between two strangers at a gas station led to the arrest of a Volusia County man and a charge of kidnapping Friday afternoon.

A 31-year-old woman walked up to a man pumping gas at the Hess station on S.R. 207 near Interstate 95 around 2 p.m. and handed him a note, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The note said she was being held against her will and to call her father. She then got back into a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck with a man identified by SJSO as Francis Xavier Knuck III. He drove them away.

The unknown witness notified a SJSO deputy nearby.

A short time later, deputies learned that they were in the parking lot of the southbound rest stop and responded.

According to SJCSO, Knuck III was arrested without incident and the 31-year old female victim was taken to a shelter.

Deputies also located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, according to SJCSO.

Knuck III, 41, from Deltona, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, domestic battery and drug charges.
