Suspects return to store with stolen credit cards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff's Office is searching for suspects in the theft of items reported stolen from an unattended purse on January 23 at about 3 p.m.

The 61-year-old victim says that her wallet, credit cards and cellphone were taken from her purse, which was sitting in her shopping cart, while shopping at the Walmart located at 1580 Branan Field Road in Middleburg. The items taken are worth $288.

The video surveillance shows a man taking the items from the purse and leaving the store in a gold Honda CR-V, according to the CCSO police report.

The suspect and an unknown woman tried to use the victim's credit cards at the same Walmart at about 3:50 p.m., which were denied.

Thursday evening, a woman was approached at a gas station by a man who claimed to be short on cash. She says the man offered to fill-up the gas tank and sell her a cellphone. The report says the woman bought the phone for $20 and saw contacts on the phone.

The woman contacted the victim's husband so she could return the cellphone.

The man is described 6-feet tall, approximately 20 years old with brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, camouflage shirt and blue jeans. The woman was wearing a camouflage shirt and dark jacket. She is approximately 20 years old, 5-feet, 4-inches and about 150 pounds.
