Suspects captured in Circle K armed robbery

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. -- A man and woman robbed a Circle K convenience store Sunday night just before midnight, according to the Glynn County Police Department.

The armed robbery took place at the Circle K located in the 4000 block of Community Road, deputies say.

The female suspect armed with a hammer, hit the counter several times. She then jumped over the counter, pulled the cash register and threw it across the counter.

GCPD says the male suspect then entered the store and threw a cigarette at the clerk when the victim attempted to call police. The suspects fled in a GMC pickup truck.

The clerk was not injured in the incident, according to GCPD.

GCPD Investigator, Jimmie Palmer, discovered the suspect's vehicle parked in a wooded area on Habersham Street.

It appeared as if the offenders placed tree branches on the tailgate to conceal the vehicle from the road.

Inv. Palmer approached the vehicle and captured both suspects.

All of the stolen items, including the money and the hammer were recovered by officers.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with count of armed robbery.

The suspects were identified as Brunswick residents, Christopher K. Dowdy and Tabbatha Sue Sturgill.
