PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla.-  A man wanted for kidnapping two women in Putnam County and raping one of them has been arrested, the Sheriff's office says.

Darrell Wayne Bailey, 51, used a knife to kidnap two women on Wednesday, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.  Deputies say Bailey is a registered sex offender.

He's being charged with sexual battery, kidnapping, robbery, battery, false imprisonment and fleeing a law enforcement officer

The first kidnapping happened when Bailey met with one of the victims at her home at 6:45 a.m.. Deputies said they were acquaintances. Bailey asked to use her telephone and once he was allowed into her home, stuck a knife to her neck and raped her. He then told her to drive to a local store, where she eventually fled and called 911.

In the midst of a manhunt, Bailey used the knife to carjack an 18-year-old woman in the area of Southeast 5th Street around 4:53 p.m. He had her drive him to a location of his choosing. However, out of fear of further harm, the victim jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled into the nearby woods. Bailey then took off in the victim's car, deputies said.

Bailey was spotted by a deputy on State Road 20 and the suspect sped off at nearly 100 miles per hour. Bailey eventually stopped never the intersection of Chesser Monroe Road. The deputy was then able to arrest Bailey.

The suspect was wanted on an active warrant in Taylor County for violation of probation regarding a previous sexual battery. Bailey is a registered sex offender due to 1988 kidnapping and sexual battery in Taylor County.

The investigation remains ongoing.
