Police recover officer's stolen truck after home broken into, guns and dog stolen

After a police officer's home was broken into while he was at work and his truck, dog and some guns were stolen, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office recovered the stolen truck Tuesday night.

Other things were also taken from the officer's Murray Hill home, and the dog hasn't been recovered.

His name is Hemingway and he appears to be a pitbull mix.

Officers noticed a stolen vehicle leaving an apartment complex around 9 p.m. and led police on a chase. The suspect driving what turned out to be the officer's stolen truck rammed into police cars and crashed into a telephone pole.

One suspect was taken into custody and another ran - police say they couldn't find him. A weapon was also found in the truck.

This crime is still under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous and receive a possible cash reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
