Police arrest woman sought in deadly hit-and-run

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman sought in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Jacksonville Beach last month surrendered to police Wednesday, authorities said.

Janelle Marie Davis of Pinelock Drive in Jacksonville faces charges of tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact related to the death of 25-year-old Daniel Stein of Jacksonville July 5, police said. Stein was hit and killed while crossing the road in the 1400 block of Third Street that morning.

Police later located the car in Neptune Beach and arrested the suspected driver, 40-year-old Darrell DeJuen Lundy of Jacksonville. Lundy, who turned himself over to authorities July 23, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death. He remains in jail with bail set at $350,000.

Police have not released the details surrounding Davis' role in the case. She was released Thursday on $50,000 bail.
