JSO searching for attempted abduction suspect

An unknown person tried to pull a 13-year-old into his vehicle in Arlington Thursday but failed, police say.

The teen was able to get free from the adult's grip and break into a run toward the bus stop in the early morning hours, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says in a release.

Authorities say the child was walking along Anvil Road toward the bus stop at Shady Oak Drive and Rogero Road when a small black car pulled up while driving east on Anvil Road.

The suspect is described as a tall white person with long blond hair, a black shirt and blue jeans. The teen could not say if the suspect was a man or a woman.

Anyone in the area at the time with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to call the sheriff's office at 904-630-0500. Or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
