Person of Interest in local Winn-Dixie burglaries located

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested a former Winn-Dixie employee in Birmingham, Alabama, in connection to June 2013 burglaries in North Florida.

Kendrick Chandler, 27, has been identified as a person of interest in connection to two St. Johns County Winn-Dixie store burglaries. Chandler allegedly hid in the bathroom of the stores and forcibly took money from the self-checkout registers, according to a St. Johns County press release.

An employee said he saw Chandler in the bathroom during the burglary of a beach store location. Chandler allegedly grabbed the unidentified employee who was attempting to run out of the bathroom, the release detailed.

Chandler faces a charge of burglary with battery, possession of burglary tools, battery, burglary of an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief. He is held in Birmingham, Al. on St. Johns County warrants totaling $8,500 bonds.
