No charges expected for Jax homeowner who shot man inside his house: Police

A homeowner came home Tuesday evening, found a man inside his home and shot him, police say. Charges aren't expected for the shooter.

The homeowner got to his house on the 1000 block of Prospect Park around 4:50 p.m. when he found the unknown person in his home, says the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Emergency responders took the man to UF Health but his condition is unknown at this time.

Charges are pending against the man at UF Health.

Detectives interviewed the homeowner and the unknown man and are processing the scene. 

Police say depending on the circumstances, homeowners are permitted to shoot people inside their homes.
