Neighborhood dispute ends with gunfire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 29-year-old man is facing murder and attempted murder charges after a neighborhood dispute ended with gunfire.

Terrance James Sopenasky, 29, allegedly fired multiple shots at a neighbors truck as it approached his home near the 3300 block of Cancun Dive, according to a police report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The approaching truck had three men inside, identified as Stephen Jackson, Jr., 22, Charles Trout, 25 and 26-year-old Charles Egerer, Jr. Sopenasky and Jackson had a recent history of aggression towards one another, according to the police report. The two had allegedly exchanged words earlier in the day Tuesday when in traffic.

According to the report, when Jackson passed Sopenasky's house, he honked the horn, shouted, then turned his truck around in the cul-de sac at the end of the street. As Jackson and his friends' approached Sopenasky's house, Sopenasky opened fire from the end of his driveway, striking and killing Jackson.

Sopenasky allegedly admitted to police repeatedly shooting at Jackson's truck.

Sopenasky is facing murder and attempted murder charges following the shooting. Sopenasky is currently being held in the Duval County Jail without bond.
