Murderer, arsonist gets life in prison

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 52-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison Friday for the death of 61-year-old Cecil Hepler.

In February 2014, Jimmie Ray Jackson pleaded guilty to the charges of murder in the second degree, first degree arson and burglary to a dwelling with damage in excess of $1,000.

The incident occurred in September 2013 when Jackson entered the victim's home and set it on fire. The victim was asleep at the time and later died at the hospital from smoke inhalation, according to a State Attorney's press release.

The investigation revealed that Jackson set the home on fire because he was mad at the owner of the home, who he had an argument with prior to the incident, the release detailed.
