Motel robbery suspect sought by police

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are searching for a robbery suspect accused of grabbing a hotel employee by the neck.

Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the Econo Lodge in the 5600 block of Cagle Avenue Sunday in reference to an armed robbery at the business, according to a release from JSO.

The wanted suspect allegedly entered the motel, approached the counter and spoke with employees. The suspect then stepped out of view and walked behind the counter, grabbing one of the employees by the neck, according to the JSO report. The suspect demanded money, opened a cash drawer and fled with cash.

The suspect is described as about 5-feet-6 inches tall weighing between 140 and 150 pounds with a relatively large afro.
