Manhunt concluded for Putnam County shooter

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – Shots fired from an AK-47 now have Putnam County deputies searching for a 22-year-old man they say fired the shots

According to Putnam County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Hancel Woods, deputies established a perimeter after they say the suspect fired shots following a domestic incident and then ran away.

The manhunt for the suspect, who has been identified by police as Bill Shannon McNew, has concluded after he was not found.

Woods said McNew shot the assault weapon at people in his yard near Walker Trail and Medlock Street, and may still have a weapon. Woods said investigators have recovered a weapon, but witnesses told them the man may still have another gun.

No one was injured in the incident, Woods said. Authorities are now getting a warrant for McNew's arrest.

Deputies say they believe there is a chance that McNew is out of the area, possibly out of the county. No extra resources are searching for him right now, according to PCSO.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office 386-329-0820.
