Man who inappropriately touched child convicted

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Officials discovered in August 2009, that Robert Allan Cowan, 52, had been inappropriately touching a 4-year-old child on several occasions since 2007.

According to the State Attorney's office, Cowan also forced the child to perform sexual acts with him during this time period.

A jury convicted Cowan the week of January 27 on two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one count of sexual battery.

Cowan will be sentenced the week of February 20 and faces a mandatory life sentence in prison.

Assistant State Attorneys Alan Mizrahi and Brooke Brady prosecuted the case.
