Man shot on Westside while riding bicycle

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting a man while he was riding his bike Monday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened in the 900 block of S. McDuff Avenue around 1 a.m.

Police say when they arrived they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his side. He told officers that he was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a bullet.

The victim say he saw two males leaving the area but was unable to provide any additional information. He was taken to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office asks that any witnesses to the shooting contact the department's Homicide Unit at 904-630-0500 or First Coast Crimestoppers at (866)-845-TIPS.
