Man shot in shoulder while walking on Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are working to find out who was behind a shooting on the Northside that sent a man to the hospital Thursday night.

A 23-year-old man was walking down the 800 block of West 8th Street about 9 p.m. when he heard a gunshot, Lt. Dan Kenney with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. It wasn't until moments later that the man realized he had been shot in the shoulder.

He flagged down a passerby, who took him to the hospital, where he's listed in stable condition, police said. Neighbors told police they heard gunshots, but didn't see who fired them.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating. So far, they do not have a suspect.
