Man faces death penalty in 2009 fatal shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 44-year-old man was convicted Friday for the 2009 fatal shooting of Terrese Stevens.

Rodney Renard Newburry was found guilty of first degree murder and armed robbery, according to a State Attorney press release.

The release says Newberry along with two co-defendants robbed and shot Stevens several times with an AK-47 in December 2009 while he was sitting in his car parked outside a North Pearl Street nightclub.

The jury will either recommend the death penalty or life in prison without parole beginning on February 7. The sentencing decision will then be made by Judge Adrian Soud.
