Man convicted of murdering girlfriend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 25-year-old man faces life in prison after murdering Rolisha Thomas in 2012.

Calvin Wright was convicted Tuesday afternoon of second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and five counts of second degree attempted murder.

According to a State Attorney's press release, in November of 2012 Wright shot the victim in front of her home when she told him she no longer wanted to be in a relationship and wanted her cellphone. He then shot several times at witnesses, including Wright's and the victim's family, none of whom was injured.

Wright ran from the scene but later turned himself into police.

He is schedule to be sentenced the week of March 18.
