Local families connected through tragedy

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A group connected through tragedy stood outside the Duval County Courthouse Monday morning.

They arrived downtown around 8:30 a.m. and stood outside in an eerie fog holding signs reminding everyone entering the courthouse of their lost family members who were victims of unsolved crimes.

Bridget Massie, mother of Michael England, Melissa Blount and Zulma Flores friends of Jillian Berrios and Robin Lezcano sister to Amber Bass found one another through social media after hearing of one another's loss. Lezcano said they reached out because they know the emotions the family of a victim goes through.

The group talks daily and just by talking to them, one can tell they are truly close.

Flores described the bond they have as family. They finish one another's sentences and they are all part of various groups in town that bring attention to unsolved killings like MADD Dads and Compassionate Families.

On this particular day, the group stands united to show support for families seeing justice including Shelby Farrah and Ron Davis.
