Jacksonville woman arrested for murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 21-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder in connection with a deadly home invasion, police said.

Jessica Leigh Fain was allegedly involved in a homicide that took place Aug. 15., according to an arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

In court Thursday, a prosecutor said Fain admitted to helping 21-year-old Marqise Trevel Yates plan a robbery at a home in the 800 block of Seabrook Cove Road. She allegedly said that Yates was supposed to call her, but he never did.

The homeowners, a man and a woman, heard a disturbance and came out to investigate, police said. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says that's when Yates then tried to rob them at gunpoint.

A brief fight broke out, but ended when both homeowners shot and killed Yates, police said.

The male homeowner had blunt trauma injuries and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville. The female had minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
