Inmate allegedly tried to hire hitmen

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- A Palm Coast man, already behind bars, is facing news charges after he allegedly attempted to hire two hitmen.

Flagler County Detention Facility inmate Roodlyn Mompremier, 20, is facing charges of solicitation to commit murder and tampering with a witness, victim or informant after an investigation found he attempted to hire two people to kill a witness related to a 2013 case, according to a release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

An investigation allegedly uncovered Mompremier engaging in several recorded conversations with fellow inmates to have a witness in his current court case killed. Detectives listened to multiple jail phone calls made by Mompremier offering up to $10,000 to perform the hit.

"Our detectives conducted a thorough investigation which revealed this individual was serious about having the witness murdered. It is a disturbing case and one we've taken seriously", said Sheriff James L. Manfre.

Mompremier is currently being held at the Flagler County Detention Facility on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for assaulting an individual with a machete in July of last year.
