SANFORD, Fla. — A day care worker at the Legacy Academy day care center in Sanford has been arrested after being accused of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.
Harry Shane Rubin, 40, was arrested by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office after the child told her parents that that Rubin inappropriately touched her during nap time.
"During nap time this child was being inappropriately approached by a male teacher there," said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Cannaday. "He was asking her to touch him in inappropriate ways."
The Crimes Against Children unit was contacted after the 4-year-old told to her mother that Rubin, an employee of the Legacy Academy day care center in Sanford, had inappropriate contact with her on several occasions, deputies said.
Investigators believe the alleged incidents occurred over the past several weeks.
Rubin was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim under 12 years old and booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on a no bond status. He is scheduled to attend first appearance Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
Officials said they don't think there are other victims, but they are investigating.
"It's a concern of ours as well, investigators have interviewed a number of children at the day care," said Cannaday. "At this point, we don't have any indication that they have been inappropriately touched, but we want to hear from parents. Open up a conversation with your children, I know they're young, but as long as they're verbal, they can be taught, good touch, bad touch."
Seminole County deputies are asking that anyone with additional information to call the Sheriff's Office at 407-665-6650.
