Burglars take $40K in phones from Lake City T-Mobile

LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Two unknown burglars broke into the T-Mobile kiosk at 3529 NW Bascom Norris Drive on Sunday and stole almost every phone in the store, leaving only two phones behind. The stolen cell phones are valued at approximately $40,000, T-Mobile told the Lake City Police Department.

The store's alarm company alerted the LCPD about the burglary at about 6:21 a.m., stating that two subjects wearing hats, dark pants and possibly blue shirts were inside the store. The burglars were gone by the time the LCPD arrived.

Upon the arrival of the key holder, police officers conducted an inventory check in the T-Mobile kiosk and found that all of the phones in the store except for two were stolen.

A similar burglary occurred at the T-Mobile store on Archer Road in Gainesville just two days prior to this incident, according to a release from LCPD Public Information Officer Steve Shaw.

The LCPD is strongly encouraging business owners who sell electronic equipment to contact Officer Mike Lee at the LCPD Crime Prevention Unit for more information on how they can protect their stores from burglary.

Anyone who has any information about this burglary can anonymously contact the LCPD tip line at (386) 719-2068.
