Authorities searching for escaped prisoner

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are searching for a prisoner who escaped from the Orange County jail on Monday.

Deputies said 32-year-old Willie Hollis drove to the jail around noon for a court hearing, but shouldn't have since he is allegedly a habitual traffic offender.

Hollis was placed in a holding area, but walked around it and sprinted to waiting vehicle outside while authorities completed his paperwork, said Jeff Williamson, Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Deputies said Hollis was last seen driving a 2008 gray Altima with a New York license plate.

Two years ago, Hollis was on the run for two weeks after authorities said he beat up and raped his estranged wife in their Orange County apartment.

He has an extensive criminal history including charged for aggravated battery, kidnapping, burglary of a dwelling and drug possession.

Anyone with information on Hollis is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 407-254-7000.
