911 calls released in alleged road rage shooting

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A former Flagler Beach police officer is charged with attempted murder of a Flagler County firefighter in an alleged road rage shooting that happened Friday night.

Former Flagler Beach police officer Nathaniel Juratovac, 40, was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly shooting Jared Parkey twice.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's released two 911 calls from the incident, one from Jared Parkey's wife and one from a witness.

"Please, please, please come hurry," Parkey's wife can be heard saying. "My husband just got shot."

Juratovac was in the car with his wife and child at the time of the shooting, according to SJSO.

It happened on U.S. 1 South, just north of Watson Road in St. Augustine.

Deputies are still investigating the shooting, but one witness said it looked like road rage.

"Hi there, we were just on U.S. 1 south and there's two cars that were like playing chicken or aggressively driving at each other and someone is laying on the ground and it looked like somebody had a gun," the witness told the 911 operator.

Parkey was airlifted to Shands Jacksonville, where he was treated and released.
