$20K in drugs seized from home

LAKE CITY, Fla. -- An anonymous tip to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office drug hotline led to an arrest and seizure of narcotics, cash and a car.

The investigation began April 1 after the Columbia County Sheriff's Office acted on a tip received on the drug tip hotline, according to a release from the CCSO.

A multi-jurisdictional drug task force obtained a search warrant for a home in the 500 block of NE Granger Mill Avenue and allegedly found over 40 grams of powder cocaine, 70 grams of crack cocaine and nearly 10 pounds of marijuana inside the home. The total street value of the bust was over $20,000, according to the CCSO.

Investigators also seized a large amount of cash and a vehicle used in the commission of the narcotics violations.

Bert Peterson, 40, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment with a total bond of $156,000.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Drug Task force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Lake City Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
