Crews work to fully contain nearly 1,000-acre wildfire

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Crews from the Florida Forest Service say they gotten the upper hand on wildfire that has burned nearly 1,000 acres, near the Flagler-Putnam County line.

The wildfire is believed to have been started by a prescribed burn on private land off of State Road 100 on Saturday.

At last report, the wildfire was 90% contained and crews were working to widen containment lines.

So far, the wildfire hasn’t threatened any structures.

The Florida Highway Patrol is warning motorists that smoke from the fire may affect visibility on nearby roadways in Putnam and Flagler Counties.

Troopers say drivers in the area should be on alert for visibility to be reduced, especially during the night time and early morning hours.
