Puppies find forever homes on International Puppy Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In honor of International Puppy Day, area shelters teamed up for a special adoption day to free up space. Dozens of dogs now have a happy home thanks to the Jacksonville Humane Society & Animal Care Services Sunday Fun-day. Both shelters offered dogs at a price tag of $20.

Spring is the busiest time of year for shelters because litters of puppies and kittens are born. If the shelters don't free up space, the city's animal control would be forced to euthanize the animals. This gives the dogs a chance to find loving families.

"There is honestly nothing better to see than when you see that match happen. Because, you just see that eye contact when someone sees their animals- and that's it- they are done!" said Amy Pierce of the Jacksonville Humane Society.
