The local chapter of the International Association of Firefighters approved a tentative agreement with the city of Jacksonville Wednesday evening.
Firefighters approved the agreement by a vote of 77 percent for and 23 percent against, says union spokesperson Randy Wyse in an email to the city.
"Today represents another step toward solving Jacksonville's pension crisis once and for all in a way that is good for taxpayers, first responders and the future of our city," says Mayor Lenny Curry in a statement.
