Boy seeks help after being left in car

Indianapolis 4-year-old exits car and asks passerby for help.

(WTHR) - An Indianapolis mother is facing charges after leaving two of her children in a hot car.

The older, a 4-year-old boy, was able to exit the car on his own and ask a passerby for help.

"The alarm went off so he started crying and screaming, and run up to the doctor's office and grabbed ahold of my leg, and immediately I could feel his head was sweaty. I knew that he had been left in the car," said Donna Roach

She described the child, 4, as scared and upset. He had been left alone in the car for as much as an hour, on a day when the outdoor temperature was 88?, according to police. The child's mother, 35-year-old Amanda Hypes, was inside the cool clinic with an older child getting treatment.

"My daughter said I wondered if he was in a car seat," said Roach. Her 15-year-old ran to the parking lot to check. "She came running back in and said mommy there's another baby in the car."
