Officials: Body found on Vilano Beach likely belongs to missing swimmer

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the body was discovered by people running along the beach around 7:45 Wednesday morning.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue Officials confirm a body was found on Vilano Beach early Wednesday morning. 

Officials say the body was discovered in the 300 block of the coastal highway about 1 mile north of the St. Augustine inlet. 

At this time, officials cannot confirm the identity of the body, however the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office tells First Coast News it's likely that the body found belongs to the missing swimmer from Sunday, 20-year-old Skyler Taylor.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the body was discovered by people running along the beach around 7:45 Wednesday morning.

It was found several miles north of where Taylor went missing while swimming with a family member Sunday afternoon.

The body will be taken to the medical examiner's office to both determine cause of death and identification.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, alongside SJCFR, the U.S Coast guard and Customs and Border Patrol began the search back on May 14.
