JACKSONVILLE, FL -- He's a husband and 16 year police veteran with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Now, officer Paul Wilson is a man in jail charged with having sex with a 14 year old girl.
Police say Wilson had sex with the girl two times from December of 2002 to July of 2003.
Another girl, an 18 year old, tells First Coast News she filed a complaint against Wilson this month for inappropriate comments made to her about her body.
The girl, we'll call "Patty", says she met Wilson at the Kings Flea Market. Police confirm Wilson works the area regularly as an off-duty police officer.
Patty says, "He'd be flirting and teasing me and I would just try to avoid him."
Patty says Wilson showed her pictures of strippers and made lewd comments.
"He'd be talking about my breasts and all of that, talking about my private areas. It was very inappropriate stuff -- not supposed to be said from an officer. That's why I got very upset and filed a complaint."
Patty says he was wearing his uniform when he made the comments. As for the case of the 14 year old, police confirm he too was wearing his uniform. Police say they are still investigating where exactly Wilson met the girl and allegedly had sex with her and if he was on duty.
Undersheriff Wyllie Hodges says, "It's certainly a black eye to our department and it's a slap in the face to all the officers out there trying to do a good job."
Wilson is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery against a minor. His bond is set at half a million dollars.
"I'm glad, God answered my prayers because he needs to be punished," says Patty.
In his 16 years with the department, Wilson has had 16 complaints. They range from traffic violations to incompetency and failure to conform to work standards.
In 1998, Wilson was even suspended for his actions.
