By Macey Bielski KOB/NBC News Channel FARMINGTON, NM -- She's 14 and she has a right arm you don't want to mess with. A Farmington, New Mexico girl is making a name for herself in the world of arm-wrestling making it all the way to the world championships. Kelsey Simmons is only 5'4" and weighs in at 130 pounds but don't let her size fool you. Kelsey has already earned first place at both New Mexico State and National Junior tournaments this year and she routinely goes against female arm-wrestlers twice her age in tournaments and wins. The 14-year-old high school freshman began arm wrestling two years ago on a whim at the state fair and came in second against grown women. She says she's motivated by her brother. "My brother Travis arm wrestles and I've always looked up to him ever since I was little so if he did it I had to do it," said Kelsey. At the world championships in Bulgaria, she will represent the U.S. in the Women's Junior Division and compete against girls from 45 countries in her weight class. Kelsey says it takes more than brute strength to win. "There's a lot of technique, over the top, and then with the hand, and just elbow in the middle," Kelsey said. The 1987 arm-wrestling film "over the top" with Sly Stallone is one of her favorites. Kelsey is building up her strength for the championship lifting weights and doing push-ups but says no wrestling till then she's saving her arm for the championships in Bulgaria.
