By Roger Weeder First Coast News JACKSONVILLE, FL -- She's a former teacher, principal and Chief of Staff. In May, Dr. Nancy Snyder will become Interim Superintendent of Duval County Schools until a permanent replacement is found. The school board officially appointed Snyder to the top job Tuesday night. Snyder has nearly 30 years of service locally. Snyder is looking forward to leading during the transition saying , "I really want to listen. I'm in a perfect opportunity to really listen to what people have to say. I'm leaving." Nancy Broner who chairs the school board says Snyder was an obvious choice to bridge the leadership change. Broner says a familiar face is so important noting, "What we want is stability during this time of transition." Snyder will take command in early May for current Superintendent John Fryer. The school board is conducting a national search and would like to have a new superintendent in place by September.
