JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Coast Guard rescued two people after their boat ran aground Saturday night in the St. Johns river.
A mayday call came into the Coast Guard from the crew of the 73-foot fishing vessel, Carolina Girl 3. The boaters said the vessel had run aground on the north side of the jetties near the St. Johns River entrance and was taking on water, according to the Coast Guard.
Coast Guardsmen from Mayport responded aboard a 45-foot boat to the scene around 11:51 p.m. The crew used pumps to clear water out of the boat.
The two boater were transferred onto the Coast Guard rescue boat.
Neither of the boaters reported any injuries.
