ONGWOOD, Fla. -- A Longwood woman was walking her dog when she was attacked by a bear Monday night.
The 54-year-old woman told officials she was walking her dog near her home in the 2600 block of English Ivy Court in Longwood at about 8 p.m. when the bear attacked her.
After the attack, the woman went to a neighbor's house. The neighbor called 911 and Seminole County Fire Rescue officials arrived to find the woman bleeding from the head.
She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center's trauma center. Her condition was not immediately known, but officials said most of her injuries are to the face.
The woman's home is in the gated subdivision, Wingfield North, which is a popular area for bear sightings in central Florida.
Florida Wildlife Officials said they would continue to stay at the subdivision until they trap the bear.
