OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -The Osceola County Sheriff's Office arrested 28 people, including a substitute teacher, on various child-sex charges during a five-day, undercover operation.

Detectives, officers and special agents from the Sheriff's Office and the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force worked from Nov. 20 to Nov. 24 arresting suspects on charged of attempted lewd and lascivious battery, traveling to seduce a child for sex and other sex-and drug-related crimes.

Detectives caught the suspects by posing as juveniles or as the guardian of a juvenile in chat rooms and on instant messaging programs online, said Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain.

During the chats, some of the suspects sent pornographic images to the undercover detectives, Lizasuain said.

"This operation should also be a warning to all parents to monitor and be involved with their child's computer activities," said Osceola Sheriff Bob Hansell.

After the initial chats, the suspect would travel to an undercover house or meeting location in Osceola County in an attempt to have sex with a child.

When they arrived, though, they wouldn't meet a child, but instead investigators from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Air Force Office of Special Investigations in addition to deputies from the Osceola, Citrus, Lake, Orange, Pasco, Polk and Seminole counties and officers from the Kissimmee, Sanford and St. Petersburg Police Departments.
