JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tim Tebow may not be coming to Jacksonville, but a restaurant bankrolled by the former Florida Gator is.
Today, a PDQ restaurant backed by Tebow opened its doors at the Hodges Point Plaza shopping center. That's at Beach and Hodges boulevards.
PDQ, which stands for People Dedicated to Quality, is a Tampa-based chicken chain.
President Steve Erickson said it's the freshness of their food that sets PDQ apart.
"We make all of the sauces right here at the restaurant, all the chicken comes in fresh. We don't have anything that's...we don't have a freezer in the restaurant," Erickson said.
The restaurant could mean an economic boost too.
The Jacksonville Business Journal reports that 1500 people applied for 80 positions at the restaurant.
