  • BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Guy Heinze Jr. was found guilty of murder Friday afternoon.

The jury of nine women and three men deliberated for three days before finding Heinze guilty on all eight counts of murder, one count of aggravated assault and two counts of drug possession.

Prosecutors argued Heinze clubbed to death all eight victims, most of whom were his family members, on Aug. 29, 2009. Heinze was charged with the killings days after he cried in a frantic 911 call: "My whole family is dead!"

Even though a Georgia judge said Heinze will not face the death penalty, witnesses in court described Heinze as, "staring down at the ground" as jurors were asked if guilty was their verdict.

The Toler family was present in court when the verdict was read and were described as breathing a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, Heinze's brother ran out of the courtroom in tears as the guilty verdict was read.
