MIAMI, Fla. -- A central Florida boy drowned while sailing on a Carnival Cruise Ship over the weekend.
The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating and identified the boy as Qwentyn Hunter of Winter Garden, Fla. Investigators say the boy was with his 10-year-old brother in the pool at the time. Passengers immediately pulled the boy from the water and began CPR, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the drowning appears to be accidental and foul play is not suspected.
A Carnival Cruise spokeswoman said the child was on the ship during the last leg of the 4-day Caribbean cruise.
"Carnival extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family during this very difficult time. The company's CareTeam is providing assistance and support," a statement read.
No other information was immediately known.
