FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers woman and her 7-year-old child were found just south of the Florida/Georgia line late Tuesday night after an Amber Alert was issued for the child's disappearance, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.
Christine Riemer and her daughter, Crystal, were found on Interstate 75 at mile marker 465 by the Florida State Agricultural Officers (a division of the Florida Highway Patrol.)
Crystal, who is supposed to be in foster care, was found unharmed and is currently being held by the Department of Children and Families.
She is a special needs child and is about the size of a three year old despite her age.
Officers arrested Riemer, 46, on charges of driving on a suspended license and for bypassing a weigh station. She is being held at the Hamilton County Jail in Jasper, Florida.
A Fort Myers police investigation into Crystal's abduction continues.
Police say they were called around 4:26 p.m. regarding a report of an abduction at Lutheran Services on Ford Street.
Riemer, who was at the facility for a court ordered supervised visit with her daughter, grabbed Crystal and fled out the back door, according to police.
