JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A truck slammed into a Southside condominium complex early Friday morning and burst into flames.
Residents of the Stone Bridge Village community awoke to the early morning blaze after a pick-up truck slammed into a building in the 7900 block of Baymeadows Road East.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, crews were dispatched to the blaze at 5:44 a.m. and arrived by 6:09 a.m.
The fire was the result of a domestic dispute, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detectives on scene. The dispute was between a man and a woman, the man allegedly moved out of the complex recently, while the woman maintained residency in Stone Bridge.
The man left the complex late Thursday night, returning early morning Friday and slammed his truck into an apartment belonging to a friend of his ex. The truck caught fire. "We didn't know what was going on, and we were like 'oh my goodness, are we going to be able to get out? Is our condo going to be okay? Is everyone alive?' We saw a guy laying flat at the bottom of the stairs we didn't know if he was okay," says resident Michelle Spencer.
Officials are still investigating whether the fire was set intentionally or was a result of the crash.
