BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. - A lengthy, undercover investigation into an illegal pill distribution ring nets nine in Bradford County.
During the investigation known as, "Operation Walking Dead," detectives discovered that several people living in Bradford and Union Counties would obtain prescription pills by fraudulent means and either use or sell the pills for profit, according to a release from the Bradford County Sheriff's Office.
The bust took place at the Dyal cemetery in western Bradford County, near the Bradford-Union County line. In addition to the nine suspects in custody, detectives also seized six vehicles used to traffic the drugs.
Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith said, "This investigation stems from a prescription pill epidemic that has swept across the state in recent years. Numerous deaths have been attributed to the misuse of prescription medication and some of these suspects looked like zombies when we arrested them."

The investigation is ongoing and other arrest and property seizures are likely.
