Pedestrian hit early Sunday morning, FHP investigating

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to an emergency call about a pedestrian lying in the road at about 3 a.m. Sunday.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, officers arrived at CR-220, west of College Drive, to find a man lying in the eastbound lanes of CR-220 after being hit by an unknown vehicle.

The report details that a red car driven by a man went through the McDonald's drive-thru at CR-220 and College Drive. The man in the vehicle asked the attendant to call police because a person was hit and lying in the roadway.

The victim has been identified by FHP as David Miller, 24, of Green Cove Springs, Fla. He is in critical condition and is being treated at UF Health Trauma Center.

FHP is continuing to investigate the incident and anyone who has information about the crash should call the Florida Highway Patrol at 904-301-3700.
