JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Pension checks are missing, according to David DeCamp of the City of Jacksonville.
DeCamp said so far the city has received 35 calls of missing checks. But, up to 250 checks may be missing. The city will stop payments for those checks and re-issue new ones.
Stephen Seewoester of the U.S. Postal Service said there is no investigation going on into a carrier stealing checks.
Seewoester said there was a miscommunication between the city and the Postal Service. A previous case has been investigated and was cleared about a month ago.
John Keane with the Police and Fire Pension fund says all pension checks were sent out Friday and are accounted for.
The city has approximately 4,800 people who receive a pension, but most receive their checks electronically.
Seewoester said the USPS is working with the city to get clarification to figure out what happened with the current batch of checks.
