By Roger Weeder First Coast News ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FL -- The southbound lanes of I-95 near the Flagler County line have reopened after being shut down for five hours. A semi carrying flammable materials such as paint remover, caught fire late Tuesday morning. Huge flames spewed from the truck. Authorities stopped traffic in both directions along I-95. It took firefighters more than three hours to get the fire under control. The truck was on its way to Miami from New Jersey. The spanish speaking drivers initially had a hard time explaining to fire crews what had happened. Bob Downing, a spokesperson for St. Johns County Fire and Rescue says, "Both driver and passenger spoke spanish. We had to communicate through use of cell phones and a translator." Traffic at one point southbound was backed up for seven miles. By early evening traffic was returning to normal alond the southern stretch of I-95 in St. Johns County. All that remains to be done is removing the skeleton of the truck and some torched barrels.
