President Obama touts nation's job growth in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- President Barack Obama landed at the Jacksonville International Airport on Air Force One on Thursday afternoon.

The President traveled by motorcade to the Jaxport Cruise Terminal on August Drive.

This is the first time a sitting President has visited Jaxport since 2008. That's when President George W. Bush came to Jacksonville to talk about trade agreements.

The President spoke about the economy, specifically about the middle class.

"Created 7.2 million new jobs," said President Obama. "Strongest job growth in over a decade."

President Obama said that we have cleared away the ruble of the financial crises.

"We have cut the deficit nearly in half since I took office," said President Obama.

The President also voiced frustration with Congress like he did while on the road in Missouri and Illinois this week.

"We got to stay focused on how to build an economy that works for everybody," said President Obama. "I will do everything in my power to make work, work for the working class."
